SITXFSA006 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices
 (100% online) - $60pp

The SITXFSA006 - Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices course, offered 100% online by Salt Training Academy, is a nationally recognised unit developed for individuals responsible for handling, preparing, and storing food in commercial food environments. This course is highly suited to food service staff in Port Macquarie and the Mid North Coast of NSW, including café workers, chefs, catering assistants, food truck operators, and supervisors who must comply with workplace and legal food safety standards.

Building on basic food safety knowledge, this course focuses on safely controlling food hazards at all stages of food preparation and service. Learners will gain practical skills in temperature control, cross-contamination prevention, allergen management, and hygiene protocols. The unit also covers the application of food safety programs, including understanding critical control points and procedures to follow when food safety breaches occur.

As part of the assessment requirements, students must complete a Third Party Observation Report, demonstrating their ability to implement safe food handling practices in a real food service setting. This makes the course ideal for those currently employed or volunteering in kitchens, restaurants, aged care facilities, or other hospitality venues in Port Macquarie or surrounding regions. Supervisors or managers in the workplace must observe and confirm the student’s performance, ensuring that they can apply their knowledge in line with industry standards.

By completing SITXFSA006 online with Salt Training Academy, students benefit from a flexible, self-paced course supported by a local, trusted training provider with strong ties to the regional hospitality and community sectors. Graduates receive a statement of attainment issued by Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), meeting the food safety certification requirements for many supervisory and frontline food service roles across NSW. This course is a valuable credential for anyone looking to improve their food safety knowledge and compliance in fast-paced food handling environments.
