Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel
LVR Course Port Macquarie

UETDRMP018

UETDRMP018 – Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel is an essential safety course for electrical workers who need the confidence and capability to respond effectively in high-risk situations. This course equips participants with practical, job-ready skills to safely rescue a casualty from a live low voltage panel, manage site hazards, and provide immediate first aid. Designed for real electrical industry environments across the Mid North Coast of NSW.

UETDRMP018 – Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel is a nationally recognised unit delivered by SALT Training Academy in Port Macquarie, supporting electrical workers across the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

This course provides the specialist skills and knowledge required to safely perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus within an electrical industry environment. The training applies specifically to live LV panels and does not include overhead lines or underground cables, ensuring a focused and industry-relevant learning outcome aligned with current workplace safety expectations.

The course addresses organisational and workplace requirements for inspecting and using live low voltage panel rescue equipment in accordance with electricity supply industry (ESI) and electrical industry standards. Participants will develop practical competency in safe approach distances, use of industry-standard personal protective equipment (PPE), and approved rescue techniques carried out under network operator conditions. Training is conducted with a strong emphasis on work health and safety (WHS) and occupational health and safety (OHS) compliance, mobility, and mutual aid requirements relevant to real-world electrical environments.

Designed for electrical workers, this unit is intended for individuals who are working in, the electrical industry workplaces and established organisational procedures.

Throughout the course, participants learn how to identify and review site-specific hazards, understand isolation processes, and respond effectively to emergency situations involving live LV panels. Practical scenarios ensure learners can demonstrate the ability to remove a casualty safely while minimising risk to themselves and others.

On successful completion, participants will be able to carry out a live low voltage panel rescue and provide immediate first aid until professional medical assistance arrives, maintaining competence in line with industry and organisational safety frameworks.

A pre-requisite for this course is HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This training is essential for electrical workers across Port Macquarie and the Mid North Coast NSW who are required to maintain current rescue and emergency response skills as part of their workplace compliance and safety obligations.
