Asbestos and Silica Awareness Training on the Mid North Coast

SALT Training Academy’s Asbestos and Silica Awareness Course provides practical workplace safety training for workers, supervisors and businesses across the Mid North Coast NSW who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACM) or be exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) during their work.

This non-accredited asbestos and silica awareness course helps participants understand where asbestos and crystalline silica may be found, how workplace exposure can occur and the potential health risks associated with exposure. Participants learn to recognise potential hazards, understand appropriate workplace procedures, apply silica dust controls and respond safely when asbestos is suspected or accidentally disturbed.

The course is relevant to a wide range of industries including construction, demolition, renovation, maintenance, manufacturing, resources, transport, cleaning and installation, as well as other workplaces where asbestos or silica-containing materials may be present or disturbed.

Participants will learn what to do when asbestos is suspected, including the importance of stopping work, avoiding further disturbance and reporting the concern through appropriate workplace procedures. The course may support workplaces in providing workers with appropriate asbestos and silica information, instruction and training.

The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete online, although completion times may vary depending on individual experience and familiarity with the subject.

SALT Training Academy delivers practical workplace safety training across Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Kempsey, Taree, Bonny Hills, Crescent Head and surrounding Mid North Coast NSW communities.

Please note: This is a non-accredited awareness course. Completion does not authorise participants to handle, disturb, sample, clean up or remove asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing materials, undertake licensed asbestos work, or perform silica-related work without the controls, training and authorisation required for the specific task.
