100% online - $45pp

Salt Training Academy delivers Sharps and Infectious Waste Management training 100% online, helping businesses and workers across the Mid North Coast stay compliant with the latest NSW workplace health and safety requirements.

This industry-focused course is designed for healthcare workers, disability support staff, aged care employees, cleaners, waste management workers, community services teams, and any workplace where exposure to sharps, biological hazards, or infectious waste may occur. Participants gain practical skills in the safe handling, disposal, and management of contaminated materials to reduce the risk of injury, infection, and workplace incidents.

From 1 July 2026, NSW PCBUs must comply with approved WHS Codes of Practice or implement alternative measures that provide an equivalent or higher standard of health and safety. SafeWork NSW’s 2026 Collection and Transport of Waste and Healthcare and Social Assistance Industry Codes identify sharps and infectious waste as workplace hazards requiring appropriate controls, including worker training.

This Port Macquarie sharps and infectious waste course covers:

  • Safe handling and disposal of sharps and infectious waste

  • Identification of biological hazards and contaminated materials

  • PPE selection and correct use

  • Spill management and incident response procedures

  • Infection prevention and contamination control

  • NSW WHS legislation and workplace responsibilities

By completing this training with Salt Training Academy, students and employers can support workplace safety, meet duty of care obligations, and improve WHS compliance across healthcare, aged care, disability support, cleaning, and waste management industries in Port Macquarie and regional NSW.
